When every other top Premier League team is being linked with players like Declan Rice, Kalvin Phillips or Ruben Neves, Arsenal are apparently putting their emphasis on Youri Tielemans.

Mikel Arteta will have a limited budget this summer because Arsenal have missed out on Champions League football but signing a new defensive midfielder remains a priority for the manager.

There’s no way Arsenal will be able to challenge for players like Rice or Phillips so they have chosen to go after Youri Tielemans – a player who has only one year left on his current deal.

Tielemans’ current deal with Leicester City expires next year and the 25-year-old is not ready to put pen on paper to a new deal which means the Foxes will have to cash in on him this summer itself.

Will Arsenal be able to get their hands on Tielemans?

Brendan Rodgers has made it clear that any player who wishes to leave will be sold in the coming months so if the Gunners push hard enough, they should be able to land the midfielder.

Youri Tielemans has played 145 games for Leicester and as per The Athletic, Arsenal are planning to launch a £25m bid for the midfielder.

Leicester want to sell him for nothing less than £30m so an agreement between the clubs shouldn’t be too far off.

Will Youri Tielemans add value to the Arsenal squad?

Thomas Partey has managed to slot in perfectly at the club and this summer, Mikel Arteta has plans to bring in a long-term replacement for Granit Xhaka.

Xhaka has been good this season but if Arsenal want to get back into the UCL, they need an upgrade in the No 8 role.

They would have loved to sign someone like Ruben Neves but the Wolves man has his eyes set on a move to Barcelona so, in such a scenario, it makes perfect sense to go after Youri Tielemans since the player will be worth every penny.

A deal for around £25-30 million will be nothing short of a bargain transfer for the midfielder since he’s not only a key part of the Leicester City squad but will also need little to no time to settle into the club.
