Liverpool are said to be ahead of the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal in the race to sign midfielder Youri Tielemans from Leicester City.
Tielamans’s current deal expires in 2023 and as per the latest rumours, the midfielder is not keen to sign a new deal at the club. Even Brendan Rodgers has hinted that the 24-year-old is likely to leave at the end of this season.
“We are real as a football club. You’ll get people asking if we can hang on to these players for the next six or seven years,” Rodgers had told Sky Sports, as quoted.
“But the reality is that if a player does really well at Leicester, he may want to leave and move on to another club. For us, it’s just about being ready for that.”
Will Youri Tielemans agree to sign a new deal with Leicester City?
Leicester City are still trying their best to make the midfielder agree to a new deal but their manager has once again made it clear that several players could be on their way out and that he is already planning a summer overhaul of his squad.
“You might be looking up to five or six players,” Rodgers said when asked about his rebuilding plans. “It’s only natural. We are nearly at the end of a cycle of working for three years together. By the time we get to the summer, it will be three-and-a-half years.

“You need to reintroduce more hunger to the team, more quality to the team. If we’re going to compete, we have to do that, that’s the reality.
“You can’t continue with the same players season after season. For the players themselves, they need competition.”
It’s more or less certain that Youri Tielemans will be looking to secure an exit at the end of this season and several major Premier League sides are keenly keeping tabs on this whole situation.
Where will Youri Tielemans end up next season?
As per the bookmakers, Liverpool are the favourites to land the 24-year-old but that does not mean teams like Arsenal and Manchester United are going to give up without a fight.
Both United and Arsenal need a world-class defensive midfielder and neither of them are likely to get their hands on the super-expensive Declan Rice meaning Youri Tielemans is going to be their next bet.
Arsenal and Manchester United will not give up without a fight but they will need Champions League football to be able to convince the Leicester City midfielder to join them.
At Liverpool, the 24-year-old will obviously be guaranteed trophies but should he decide to join them he will have to fight players like Fabinho and Henderson for a place in the starting lineup.
As things stand, it’s really hard to predict where Youri Tielemans will end up next season but if Arsenal or Man United cannot secure a Champions League spot they will surely fall down the pecking order.
