Arsenal have been linked with Youri Tielemans since the very first day of the summer transfer window but somehow they are yet to get a deal done.

There have been numerous reports of Tielemans wanting to join the Gunners but it seems like Mikel Arteta is in no hurry to bring the Belgian international on board.

Now, talkSPORT are claiming that Arsenal are not sure about his physicality which is the probable reason why the North London side are having second thoughts over this transfer.

This reason seems a bit odd because Youri Tielemans is perfectly capable of holding his own in the centre of the pitch and for the previous few seasons, he has been operating as the lone defensive midfielder for Leicester(that too without any major issues).

However, there might be another explanation for this delay and that has to do with one of their other targets.

Do Arsenal want Your Tielemans or Athur Melo?

Arsenal had failed to sign Arthur Melo in January and as per the rumours, the Gunners have reignited their interest in him.

The Express are claiming that Mikel Arteta is now eager to sign the Juventus midfielder on a loan deal with an option to buy. The manager is not sure if Arthur can succeed in the Premier League which is why he wants to check him out on loan before making any permanent commitments.

Juventus are also ready to get rid of Arthur and maybe this development is the reason why Arsenal are stalling over the Youri Tielemans deal.

Maybe, Mikel Arteta feels that instead of spending £30-35 million on Youri Tielemans, he would much rather sign Arthur Melo on a loan deal. If things don’t work out then Arsenal can send him back to Juventus and possibly sign Tielemans as a free agent next summer.

No other major clubs are currently interested in Tielemans so if Arsenal back out then he will probably have to remain with Leicester City until his contract expires next year.
