Arsenal are likely to face some stiff competition in the potential signing of midfielder Yves Bissouma from Brighton and Hove Albion during the summer, according to the Irish Mirror.

The report claims: “Leicester are ready to rival Arsenal’s interest in Brighton star Yves Bissouma. The Mali midfielder’s agent confirmed the Gunners’ interest earlier this month with boss Mikel Arteta keen to pair him up at the Emirates with Thomas Partey.

“Bissouma was a boyhood Arsenal fan as well, meaning a move to north London appeals.

“But the Foxes have now joined the hunt, with manager Brendan Rodgers hoping the potential carrot of Champions League football will give him the edge as the player makes a decision on the next step in his career.”

Will Yves Bissouma leave Brighton & Hove Albion to join a new club?

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is looking for a long-term partner for Thomas Partey in midfield and it looks like Yves Bissouma is the player who is being targeted by the Gunners boss.

Yves Bissouma has done really well for the Seagulls over the past three years at the club but the player will likely be on his way out at the end of this season.

Brighton are more than ready to cash in on the Malian international and now with Leicester City also keen to land him, Graham Potter will be hoping to jack up the asking price.

Leicester City are also looking at Yves Bissouma as the partner for Ndidi next season but Arsenal have a slight advantage over the Foxes in this race since the player is a boyhood Gunners fan.

But, in the end, it’s Champions League football which might dictate the outcome of this transfer since Arsenal are not likely to get back amongst the big boys while Leicester are sitting third on the Premier League table and should be playing in the UCL next season.

Yves Bissouma will undoubtedly want to ply his trade in the top tier of European football and this could be the catalyst for Leicester to make a prompt move as soon as they secure a Champions League spot for next season.
