Arsenal might complete a shock transfer and bring Chelsea defender David Luiz to the Emirates before the January transfer window comes to a close.

Luiz had a fall out with Chelsea boss Antonio Conte during the start of November last year and since then the Brazilian has struggled to get game time under the Italian manager. Luiz has fallen down the pecking order and reports have suggested that the centre-back might very well be on his way out of Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal have been on the hunt for a centre-back and had been chasing West Brom’s, Jonny Evans. Now though that deal seems to be out of reach for Arsene Wenger as a result of which the French manager has shifted his focus to David Luiz.

Bookmakers Ladbrokes has slashed their odds for David Luiz securing a move to Arsenal. From from 16/1, the odds have gone down to 9/2 – meaning that a transfer could very well happen before the end of January.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “All eyes will be on Aubameyang’s possible Arsenal move, but the latest odds suggest another blockbuster name could be arriving at the Emirates in the next two days.”

David Luiz has been struggling for game time since returning back from a knee injury and the Blues will have no hesitation in sending him out on loan for the remainder of the season. But will they want to send such a highly rated defender to a direct rival?
