Manchester City’s week went from bad to worse after they were knocked out the Champions League by Liverpool on Tuesday.

The Premier League leaders took the pitch at Etihad with a 3 goal deficit and it was always going to be an uphill task for Guardiola’s men. But City made a perfect with Gabriel Jesus giving them a 1-0 lead on the night within the 2nd minute of the match.

And City should have been 2-0 up at half-time but Leroy Sane’s goal was ruled out after he was adjudged offside by the linesman.

But on closer examination, it was revealed that Sane was not offside at all because the ball came to him from a Liverpool player’s touch.

And this disallowed goal has been the point of debate for everyone after the match.

Now, three Premier League referees have blasted Spanish official Antonio Lahoz for the failure to make the right call.

Former ref Graham Poll told the Daily Mail: “City have been the victims of poor refereeing decisions in three consecutive games which have defined their season.”

“I could understand the assistant thinking Gabriel Jesus had played the ball but from his position, Lahoz should have over-ruled him and allowed the goal.”

Bolton based former referee Mark Halsey wrote in The Sun:”It was a catastrophic mistake from the officials.”

“There are three officials with a great view of it and how they have come to that decision is beyond me.”

Former Premier League official, Chris Foy added: “The goal stood have should,”

If that goal would have allowed to stand then Manchester City would have been 2-0 up at half-time meaning they would have had a much greater chance of beating Liverpool on the night and in turn qualify for the semi-finals.
