Manchester City beat Spurs 3-1 at Wembley last night and the champions-elect now only need 3 more points to wrap up the Premier League this season.
And if were to describe last night’s high profile clash in one sentence then we would have to say that ‘Man City outclassed and outplayed Spurs in every department.’
Everyone thought that Spurs would go for the kill with Man City having lost their past three games but it was Guardiola’s men who were adamant in turning the tables and made a proper comeback statement.
After the match, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino was asked if his team can ever play at the levels at which Man City currently operate.
And the Argentine manager said: “I think you know, the people know, we know, that, of course, we are working in a different way to them,
“We cannot compare to them.
“Of course we need to work hard to try to achieve or reach the level of Manchester City.
“I think we still need to work a lot and of course, in the way that we try maybe one day, we can reach.
“Of course if you want you to work hard, but then sometimes it’s not easy.
“Only listen, I don’t know, Pep or Mo or different managers, they say ‘we need to invest, we need to invest, more quality or different bigger stars to play’.
“But in our club, I think we have a different philosophy and it’s not the same.
“That is why all that we are doing is fantastic because we are working with different tools.”
Manchester City will have the opportunity to wrap up the league if Manchester United falter against West Brom tonight or against Bournemouth in midweek.
Spurs on the other hand, still have to battle it out to secure a top-four spot on the league table given that they are just seven points clear of Chelsea who currently sit in the 5th spot.
