Algeria made a shock exit from the African Cup of Nations 2017 as they drew their match against Senegal 2-2. Islam Slimani scored twice for the Algerian side but ultimately it was not enough for Algeria to qualify to the next stage.

Alegria needed to win this match and hope that Zimbabwe defeated Tunisia in the other game. But both the results did not happen. Tunisia defeated Zimbabwe 4-2 and most importantly Algeria couldn’t win.

As a result of these matches in Group B, both Senegal and Tunisia qualify for the knockout stages of the competition and they will face the qualifying teams of Group A.

This, in turn, means that Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani will join their Leicester City squad earlier than expected. This comes as a huge boost for the defending champions as they have been having a terrible season. Both these players were heavily missed in the last match as Leicester lost 3-0 to Southampton.

Leicester are languishing at the bottom of the league with just twenty-one points. They are currently 15th in the table. The unexpected early return of both these players is a huge plus for Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri as he looks to pull his team out from the bottom of the table.
