Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera received a yellow card for diving inside the Manchester City penalty area and all hell broke loose after the match as many Man United fans complained that Gabriel Jesus had also done the same during the 20th minute of the match but he was not brandished with a card.
Now though it seems that the Brazilian striker could face a two-match for diving – according to referee Mark Clattenburg.
At the start of the season, the FA brought in a new rule that sees diving players punished.
If footballers are not punished during the game then they will be put to a three-man panel who will review the video evidence.
So Jesus’ dive after could very well lead him to a ban if the video evidence goes against him.
“The incident in the first half is a dive from Gabriel Jesus,” Clattenburg told The Times(via the Mirror)
“That’s a dive. I think we will see that being looked at by the Premier League and it will be interesting.
“There will be a referee, an ex-player and an ex-manager on the panel and it will depend on what the latter two say.
“The referee will say that it’s a dive but it will have to be a 3-0 verdict for him to receive a ban.”
