According to an exclusive report by le10sport, French side Lille have spiked their interest in moving for Man City defender Eliaquim Mangala during the January window.

As per the news, the Lille management have maintained contact with Mangala’s agent and want to sign up the player – preferably on a loan deal at the start of the new year. The 26-year-old rejected a move to a series of clubs during the summer in order to stay at the club and fight for his position but now he is more of a spare wheel in the defensive line up of Pep Guardiola. The French International has barely featured in the Premier League and his only outings for the Blues came during the Carabao Cup draw. And sadly he has failed to impress even there.

So practically Pep Guardiola has no use of the player as he is currently the fourth choice defender on the roster.

Lille made initial enquires about the defender during the summer but their manager – Marcelo Bielsa was not too keen on signing him up. But now the report suggests that the club are willing to rethink their decision owing mainly to a poor start to the new season.
