Manchester City picked up a crucial win against Everton on Saturday and in doing so, Guardiola’s men moved one step closer to the Premier League trophy.

City were in cruise control throughout the match as Leroy Sane put his team infront in the 4th minute thanks to an exquisite volley. The lead was doubled by Gabriel Jesus in the 12th minutes and Raheem Sterling put the final nail in the coffin with a goal 8 minutes before half-time.

Yannick Bolasie pulled one goal back for the Toffees on the hour mark but that proved nothing more than a consolation goal.

Next weekend Manchester City host their arch-rivals Manchester United at home and Guardiola’s men will have the chance to wrap up the season if they manage to win the Manchester Derby.

But before City welcome United, they have a crunch game against Liverpool in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

City travel to Merseyside once again on Wednesday to take on Liverpool in the first leg of the UCL clash and even before the teams have started preparing for the big day, it seems as if Pep Guardiola has already fired a couple of shots at his managerial counterpart.

After Man City picked up all three points against Everton, the home fans at Goodison Park were applauding the soon to be crowned League Champions.

And to this, Guardiola said: “Maybe because we are going to play against Liverpool! Thank-you so much.”

This statement is nothing but a sly dig at Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool who also picked up all three points against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Guardiola knows only one type of football and that it to attack. So Jurgen Klopp is pretty clear at what is coming his team’s way on Wednesday. But Guardiola will know very well that Liverpool have the attacking firepower to dismantle his team’s defence in the blink of an eye.
