Manchester City might be cruising in the Premier League this season but Guardiola’s side have been a big failure in retaining their academy graduates over the past couple of seasons.
And now it seems that the Citizens are set to lose yet another talented youngster, this time to Liverpool.
According to the Sun, Liverpool look all set to sign Steven Gerrard’s cousin Bobby Duncan from Manchester City in June.
Duncan is a highly rated centre-forward who has the versatility of playing in a number of other position and it seems that the 16-year-old does not see a long-term future at the Etihad.
Bobby has often been described as one of the most talented youngsters in the England U-17 level but the soon to be 17-year-old is currently involved in a major contract tussle with the Premier League leaders.
The dispute has taken such an ugly turn that the centre-forward has not featured for Manchester City’s academy side for a couple of months now.
But with the move to Liverpool coming up very soon, the Huyton-born lad is keeping himself fit by training with League One side Wigan.
According to the report, the move will be completed in June of this year – as soon as Bobby Duncan becomes 17.
Liverpool will have to shell out around £200,000 in compensation for the youngster but given the number of rave reviews that the player has received the amount is being considered a very nominal one.
