Liverpool have been dealt with a huge blow in the signing of a long-term replacement to their current No 1 Loris Karius and Jurgen Klopp should now start weighing in his other options.
Roma president James Pallotta has made it clear that there is no way that he will sell off Alisson Becker during the summer transfer window.
Alisson joined Roma from Brazilian side Internacional in July of 2016 for a €7.5 million fee but spent most of the first season playing second fiddle to Wojciech Szczęsny.
And it was when the Polish International joined Juventus that Alisson took charge of goalkeeping duties.
During the 2017-18 season, the Brazilian International has made 42 appearances for the Serie A side in all competitions and this has caught the eye of a number of top European clubs.
Apart from Liverpool, Real Madrid are also eyeing a move for Alisson during the summer but Pallotta has claimed that the 25-year-old is going nowhere.
The Roma president told Sky Sports Italia: “We have no intention of selling him. No chance,
“When we signed him, I thought he was a great goalkeeper and I still think so, so we won’t sell him.”
This news will most certainly come as a huge blow for Jurgen Klopp who had pinned his hopes on Alisson for the upcoming season.
The Brazilian is without a shadow of a doubt one of the best sweeper keepers in Europe right now and he is currently valued at 40.5 million pounds according to TransferMarkt.
But given the fact that his current contract with Roma ended in 2021, any club who wishes to go after Alisson will have to pay a lot more than just the base price.
Liverpool are set to take on AS Roma in the Champions League semi-finals the first leg of which is scheduled to be played at Anfield on the 24th of April.
