Samir Nasri bids adieu to the Etihad: 6 highlights from his time at Man City

Manchester City have confirmed that Frenchman Samir Nasri has signed for Turkish Super League club Antalyaspor on a two-year deal.

Nasri won two Premier League titles as well as one League cup in his 6 seasons at Etihad. He spent the last season on loan at Spanish side Sevilla.

Despite impressing in City’s pre-season tour in the USA, Nasri was omitted from the side for the opening game against Brighton.

City wanted to recoup around £10 million for the 30-year-old but they settled for £8 million according to reports.

The club said on their official Twitter account: “.@SamNasri19’s six-year stay at #ManCity has come to an end. He’s signed for Turkish side @Antalyaspor.

“Thank you for some brilliant memories, @SamNasri19 and all the best at @Antalyaspor and for the rest of your career!”

Here are some of his top moments in the light blue jersey:

1) Dream Debut 

Nasri got off to a flying start to his City career as he provided 3 assists on his debut. City won the game 5-1 against Spurs and it was a sign of exciting things to come from the Frenchman

2) First goal for the club

Nasri scored his first goal in the month of October against Blackburn Rovers as City rampaged on to a 4-0 victory.

3) 2012 Title win

Nasri vindicates the decision to leave Arsenal as he wins his first Premier League title which coincided with City’s first title.

4) 2012 Community Shield final

Nasri scored what effectively proved to be the winner in the 2012 Community Shield final victory against as Man City beat Chelsea 3-2.

5) Big game pedigree

Nasri went on to score against Sunderland to seal the 2014 League cup for Man City. His performance earned him the Hardaker Trophy – awarded to the League Cup Final Man of the Match.

6) Second success

Nasri went on to win his second Premier League title in 3 seasons as City clinched the 2014 title.

Nasri thanked the club, his teammates and Manchester City fans in a series of tweets.

Nasri made 129 appearances for Manchester City after joining for £25 million from Arsenal. His career at City went downhill after suffering a serious tendon injury he suffered in October 2015 which ruled him out for 6 months. He made only 6 appearances after that injury for the club.

Nasri will join up with the likes of Samuel Eto’o, Jeremy Menez and Johan Djourou at the Turkish Club.
