According to the latest reports, Barcelona are ready to drop their interest in Philippe Coutinho and move towards another player.

Barcelona tried every trick in the book in order to sign the Brazilian during the summer but Liverpool held on to their best player. And now after such a public spat, it looks as if Barcelona do not want to come back in January. This report though comes in contract to previous ones which had claimed that the Blaugrana will return for Coutinho in January with an even higher bid.

But according to the latest news that is doing the rounds, Barcelona have shifted their focus to Jean Michael Seri. The 26-year-old midfielder has been playing for Nice since 2015 and it looks like Barcelona have renewed their interest in the player. But what’s amusing is that Seri was also a transfer target for both Arsenal as well as Liverpool. Liverpool were supposedly looking at the Ivorian International as an alternative had they lost Coutinho to Barcelona.

Barcelona saw as many as three bids rejected for Coutinho during the summer and now with a growing interest in Seri, it is highly unlikely that they will move for Coutinho too. But having said that the drop of interest will hopefully be temporary and they will move for the Brazilian during the next summer transfer window. Barcelona see Coutinho as a long time replacement for Andres Iniesta and no matter how good a player Jean Michael Seri is, we are afraid that he will never be able to fill boots as big as those.
