London sides Arsenal and Chelsea have already held talks for the signing of Amadou Onana from Everton, that’s according to Spanish outlet Sport.

The midfielder has been a stellar performer for Everton but with the Toffees sitting in the relegation zone, Onana is planning to take the next step in his career and even the Merseyside outfit are willing to cash in on him.

Everton will see a reduction in their transfer spend this summer so most of their money will have to come from player sales and if an interested club is ready to pay £51 million then they will let Amadou Onana leave.

Barcelona have a longstanding interest in the midfielder and some claim that the Catalans are actually the favourites to land him. However, the £51 million fee will be a big stumbling block for the club with sources claiming that Barca cannot afford to pay more than £35 million.

Onana’s current market value is £43 million and his contract expires in 2027 so there’s no way Everton will reduce their demands.

Barca will struggle to meet this asking price which is a big boost for the two Premier League suitors because £51 million is nothing for Chelsea or Arsenal.

Chelsea are looking at Amadou Onana as the replacement for Conor Gallagher who’s possibly going to be sold in the summer. Arsenal, on the other hand, are going to let go of Thomas Partey, Elneny and Jorginho so they too will need to sign one or two central midfielders.

Barcelona’s recent struggles mean they cannot go around splurging in the market and if they are not ready to pay up, there’s no way Everton will allow Amadou Onana to join the Catalans.

The Toffees won’t want to sell the Belgium international to a direct English rival but if the price is correct then both Chelsea and Arsenal have a great chance of signing him.
