Arsenal have been trying to sign Kieran Tierney ever since the transfer window opened and it looks like the club have finally gotten their hands on the left-back.
Up until now, Arsenal have seen two bids being rejected from Celtic as they have fallen short of the £25million price tag demanded by the Premiership club.
But now it seems like Celtic have agreed on a deal sell-off Kieran Tierney to the Premier League club – as per the Daily Mail.
“Arsenal are closing on an agreement with Celtic for left-back Kieran Tierney after restructuring their £25million offer,” as per the report.
“The deal looked to have collapsed last week as Arsenal refused to increase their initial down payment and fell £5m short of Celtic’s demands.
The 22-year-old Tierney has told Celtic he wants the chance to play in the Premier League and the Scottish champions are willing to grant his wish if Arsenal pay a larger proportion of the fee upfront.”
Last weekend, Arsenal had received a major boost when Carlo Ancelotti had claimed that Napoli were not interested in signing Kieran Tierney which meant the North London side were the only club chasing the youngster.
“Honestly, I’m not interested in signing him,” Ancelotti is quoted as saying by Metro.
“He is a really good young left-back but he is a Celtic player. We are looking for a lot of players for this coming season but he is a Celtic player and we have two good left-backs. But honestly I can say he is a really good player.”
And now rumours have claimed that Arsenal will agree to pay more money upfront instead of paying add-ons which means Kieran Tierney should be a Gunner pretty soon.
This is certainly great news for the Gunners fans who had been urging their club to bring in defensive reinforcements this summer after their poor show at the back last season.
With all the reports doing the rounds regarding Arsenal closing in on Kieran Tierney, it seems like the North London club have themselves dropped a hint regarding the left-back joining the club’s ranks pretty soon.
While talking about the business done during the transfer window, the club said on their official website(as reported):
“It’s been a promising pre-season, with plenty of players catching the eye during our games in the United States, a couple of new additions joining the ranks recently… and, who knows, maybe more will follow in the not-too-distant future.”
While this is not a direct confirmation from Arsenal but it sure is enough to get the fans excited and most of them are now certain that Kieran Tierney will be playing for them next season.
