Thomas Partey has seen his importance diminish in the Arsenal team this season and as per reports, FC Barcelona want to bring him on board at the end of this season.

Arsenal paid a lot of money to sign the midfielder from Atletico Madrid and until last season, he was a stellar and consistent performer for the Gunners but injuries have completely ruined his career in England.

He has been sidelined since October due to a muscle injury, resulting in the 30-year-old participating in merely four Premier League games this season. Declan Rice, along with Jorginho and others, has performed admirably in the midfield. Considering Thomas Partey’s contract is set to expire in 2025, Arteta is prepared to capitalize on the opportunity and sell him.

The Gunners are ready to offload the midfielder in January itself but we doubt if any team will want to sign him during the middle of the campaign.

Several Saudi clubs are also interested in signing Thomas Partey in the summer and they are willing to pay up to €40 million. Barcelona want to bring Partey back to Spain but they are amidst a massive financial crisis so they can’t afford to pay €40-45 million for the central midfielder.

Arsenal will be more than happy if they can bag €40-odd million for the 30-year-old because they will be able to recoup the massive amounts they spent on Rice, Timber and co last summer.

There’s no way Arteta will offer Partey a new contract and even the midfielder knows this very well. As per some experts, the Gunners want to bring in Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi as the long-term replacement in the summer.

A move to Barcelona will definitely entice him but joining the SPL has been the flavour of the season so if one of the clubs is ready to offer him a hefty salary package Partey will be more than happy to move to the Middle East.
