Arsenal have finally managed to sign Denis Saurez from Barcelona on a loan spell.

The midfielder has been on the radar of Unai Emery for a really long time and a report has suggested that Denis Suarez was offered to Arsenal even before the January transfer window had begun.

But during this month, the transfer saw many ups and down and at one point it looked as if the move had collapsed.

The move is currently a loan deal but the Gunners do have an option to make the move permanent during the summer.

And now Unai Emery has revealed why he chose to make a move for Denis Suarez.

“We are very happy that Denis Suarez is joining us. He is a player we know well and I have worked with him at Sevilla,” Emery told the club’s website.

“He brings us quality and options in many different attacking positions, so he’ll be able to help the team.

“If a player can come here to help us, he will come. My focus has been on the match and I haven’t spoken to anyone.

“We need wingers. Suarez, who I know, he has these qualities.”

It is more or less clear from Unai Emery’s words that Denis Suarez will not be deployed in central midfield – his natural position.

The Spaniard will instead be playing on the wings, atleast for the first couple of games.

Denis Saurez usually play on the left wing which is currently occupied by Alex Iwobi but against Manchester City, we might see Saurez in that position.

If Denis Saurez does start on the left-hand side against City this weekend then Aubameyang will probably be given a more free role in the attacking third while Alexandre Lacazette will play through the middle.
