Arsenal are ready to battle Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Norwich City full-back Max Aarons – as per reports.

Spurs have been keeping tabs on the Canaries youngster for a couple of months now and it seemed like the Lilywhites would have an easy run to the signing of the youngster.

As per reports, Max Aarons wants to keep playing in the top flight next season also which is why he wants to move out of Norwich this month itself and even the Canaries are now willing to sell him off for a reported fee of around 30 million pounds.

And back in October Daniel Farke has admitted that he would be powerless in stopping the youngster leave in case he wants to join a bigger club.

“Sometimes a player develops quicker than a club and you have to accept it if a player wants to have a bigger move and that there are bigger clubs in world football than we are,” he said via The Telegraph.

“But there is no financial pressure on us – we don’t have to sell any player even if there is an offer of £200million. We don’t need the money to keep the club going.”

Now though, it seems like Jose Mourinho will face some stiff competition from Arsenal since Mikel Arteta reportedly wants the Gunners to try and sign Max Aarons.

As per the updates, Arteta has come to the conclusion that Hector Bellerin is not the player he once used to be and hence he wants to bring in a long-term replacement for the Spaniard.

And it looks like the Arsenal boss has set his sights on the Norwich City youngster.

The manager is bound to bring in some defensive reinforcements this month and it looks like Max Aarons could be one of them.

Having said this though, some experts believe that Arsenal should not challenge Spurs to the signing of the youngster since Norwich would want him loaned back to the club for the rest of the season.

And this is something that might not go down too well with the Arsenal support since they need to get back into the Champions League next season and spending money on future talents might seem like a waste of money to some people.
