Premier League side Arsenal want to sign PSG winger Xavi Simons once his loan spell with RB Leipzig comes to an end, as per Sport BILD (via Sport Witness).

Xavi Simons returned to PSG last summer via a buy-back clause after he had a 22-goal campaign with PSV Eindhoven but there’s a big chance that he will be sold off at the end of the current season.

He’s currently spending a loan spell with RB Leipzig where he’s scored six goals in 26 games for the club and Arsenal are said to be one of the favourites to land the left-winger.

The Gunners had tried to sign Simons last summer as well but in the end, the 20-year-old returned to Paris. The rumours are suggesting that Mikel Arteta is still interested in bringing him on board but this time, he will have to fight clubs like Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

The first big obstacle for Arsenal will be convincing Xavi Simons to join them over European giants like Bayern and Barcelona but if the Gunners can lift the Premier League trophy this season then it will be a big boost to their hopes.

The second issue that Arteta’s side will face is the price tag that PSG would set on Simon if they do decide to sell him off during the summer transfer window. His contract with the French side expires in 2027 and his current market value is €70 million so it won’t be a surprise if PSG demand in excess of €100 million for the winger.

Xavi Simons is undoubtedly a fine talent but it makes no sense for Arsenal to spend so much money on him when Mikel Arteta already has Gabriel Martinelli who plays out on the left-hand side.

This whole arrangement will depend on what PSG plan to do with Simons at the end of this season because if they are in no need to offload him right away. The Ligue 1 side can very easily hold onto him for one more season but we suspect with three of the biggest European clubs interested in the Netherlands internationals, PSG will want to cash in on Xavi Simons as quickly as possible.
