Arsenal are in the risk of losing Alexandre Lacazette to Atletico Madrid during the January transfer window – as per reports.

Atletico Madrid are eager to bring in a new forward this month and right now they have their sights set on signing Edinson Cavani from Ligue 1 club PSG.

The Uruguayan is out of contract at PSG at the end of this season and there are a number of clubs who have shown interest in signing him this month including the likes of Man United and Arsenal.

But as things stand Atletico hold a slight advantage over these sides but still Simeone is not ready to put all his eggs in one basket.

As per reports, the La Liga outfit are looking at Alexandre Lacazette as a potential backup if they cannot sign Cavani and this could be a real cause of concern for Mikel Arteta.

Laca might not be in the form of his life but under his new boss he’s shown glimpses of what he’s really capable of and by the looks of it, Arteta is ranking him really highly.

The forward’s work rate against Man United a couple of weeks ago was phenomenal meaning if he does try and force his way out then Arteta will have a gaping hole in his squad.

But while playing for Atletico might seem very lucrative we don’t think the forward will try and exit Arsenal this month itself since he would be eager to win over his new boss.

Having said that though, Alexandre Lacazette like any other player will be eager to play in the Champions League and as things stand, Arsenal’s chances of playing in the top tier of Europe next year seem really slim.

So while the Frenchman might not try and move out of the Emirates this month, he can very well try and seek a new challenge in case the Gunners fail to finish in the top-four by the end of this season.
