According to a report in 90Min, Barcelona are very much open to the idea of cashing in on Ferran Torres if the right offer comes in.

The forward joined Barcelona from Manchester City for a €55 million transfer fee but he struggled to get starts last season. He’s played in 33 La Liga games in the 22/23 campaign out of which only 14 were starts.

Torres, in a recent interview, has made it clear that he does not wish to leave after just one year but Barca want to improve their financial condition which is why they are open to parting ways with the 23-year-old.

He had said at the end of June: “Today, I am at Barca, but football takes many turns. I have the phone on airplane mode, on July 10 [the start of pre-season], I will open it.

“I’m just focused on what’s mine, training, taking advantage of the pre-season that I couldn’t do last year [due to injury] and from here on, showing that I’m a great footballer. In the next few days you will have news.”

Which clubs are interested in signing Ferran Torres?

Torres had moved back to Spain after two years in England because he was eager to get more game time but his wish has not come true.

Arsenal are the biggest club that have been linked with the forward but that was in the past. We are yet to hear any sort of interest this summer and we think the Gunners won’t go after the Barcelona man because they have already brought in Kai Havertz from Chelsea.

Newcastle United and Aston Villa are the two other EPL sides who are being linked with Ferran Torres and if he is available for sale then both of them will make a move.

The Magpies will be playing in the Champions League next season so they are reinforcing their squad and they won’t mind spending €40-50 million on the 23-year-old. Villa also had a very good campaign under Unai Emery but there’s very little chance that Torres is going to leave FC Barcelona and move to Villa Park.

Should Barcelona sell Ferran Torres?

Ferran Torres is primarily a left-winger but Xavi currently has Dembele, Raphinha and Ansu Fati who are also wide players plus Barcelona have also signed Ez Abde and Lamine Yamal this summer which means the competition will be even tougher.

The former Man City man has not lived up to the expectations and with so many wide attackers in the squad already there’s no reason why Xavi won’t allow Torres’ sale in the coming weeks.

The Blaugrana paid €55 million for the Spain international and because his contract runs until 2027, the club cannot afford to sell him for anything less than €40-45 million.

There’s gossip that Barcelona know that getting so much money for someone who scored and assisted only 10 goals last season is going to be really hard which is why they are open to sending him out on loan next campaign and then offloading him permanently next summer.

Newcastle and Villa will be more than happy with this arrangement and if a loan move is up for grabs then even Arsenal could join the bandwagon.
