Nico Williams and Luis Diaz have been the top two left-wingers on Barcelona’s transfer wishlist for the summer and it looks like the Catalans are about to get a chance of landing the latter.

According to a report by The Daily Mail (via MD), Liverpool have approached Newcastle United for Anthony Gordon and the youngster does the same job as Luis Diaz.

Deco is eager to add a new world-class left-winger before the new season begins and if Liverpool are serious about bringing Gordon on board then Arne Slot will most certainly allow the management to cash in on the Colombian international who is currently valued at €75 million.

Anthony Gordon is valued at €60 million which means if Barcelona are ready to pay up for Luis Diaz then Liverpool won’t have to dig into their own pockets to be able to sign the Newcastle United.

Should and could Barcelona pay for Luis Diaz?

Luis Diaz has been with Liverpool since 2022 and his contract with the Premier League side expires in 2027 but based on the rumours, the 27-year-old is keen to move out within the next couple of weeks and join Camp Nou.

Barcelona have also shown equal interest in the winger and while some experts claim that Nico Williams will be a better option, we think they should go all out to try and land Luis Diaz.

Liverpool will probably want around €80-85 million for the left-winger and even though he is costlier than Nico Williams, Diaz is a much more experienced player. He’s had 37 goal contributions in 98 appearances for Liverpool and can have an instant impact under Hansi Flick.

Williams just had a superb season with Bilbao and because he is only 21 years old which would make him a better possible asset than Luis Diaz. However, the Colombian international has had several top-class seasons, first with FC Porto and then with Liverpool.

This season, he had an xG of 11.88 and an xA of 4.75 in 37 league games from 32 shots on target along with a passing accuracy of 86%.

There’s no doubt Barcelona are massively going to struggle to meet Liverpool’s financial demands but they should be looking to offload some important players and then use that money to reinforce the left wing with the signing of Luis Diaz.

Also, Nico Williams might have a release clause of only €58 million but he is demanding a massive salary package in order to leave Athletic Bilbao and there’s no way Barcelona will be able to pay him around €350,000-400,000 per week for the next five years.
