Pep Guardiola spent three successful years at Bayern Munich before he parted ways with the Bavarian side in order to take up a new challenge. While City will be extremely pleased with the move, Bayern on year later do not look as happy as they would want to after an estranged start to the campaign

The German Champions suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of PSG in the UEFA Champions League and are also stuttering in the league as they trail Peter Bosz’s Dortmund by 5 points.

Bayern have gone to sack Carlo Ancelotti and are reportedly in search of a new manager and apparently, they have consulted Pep over their choice over dinner and he seems to be satisfied with it.

Former Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel, Hoffenheim’s young manager Julian Nagelsmann, and former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique have all been linked with the role. Louis Van Gaal is another big name to be linked after almost 6 years from his first spell in charge at Bayern.

Guardiola spent three successful years at Bayern, winning the league every season and securing the Bundesliga-German Cup double in his first and final years.

The Spaniard, now in charge at Premier League club Manchester City, dined with Bayern president Uli Hoeness in Munich on Tuesday during which Hoeness discussed Ancelotti’s successor.

“It was a meeting between friends, but of course we have also spoken about professional matters,” Hoeness told German media outlet Abendzeitung. “I told him who we were going to recruit [as the new Bayern manager] in the next few days and he was satisfied.”

Guardiola, who also enjoyed four illustrious years as Barcelona manager, has led City to the top of the Premier League table, recently defeating champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Pep and his Man City side have so far not stepped a single foot wrong as they dominate in the Premier League. The win at Chelsea shows that as compared to last year, the City squad looks better equipped to grind out results and hold their own in big games like these.

The currently lead the table barely on Goal difference as their neighbours Manchester United have mirrored their results so far and are on 19 points themselves as well.

Pep will be wise enough to know that this is far from over as he cannot discard the chances of Chelsea and Tottenham this early in the season despite many pundits feeling that the title will go to Manchester this season.
