Spurs have suffered a fresh injury blow with Ange Postecoglou confirming that Cristian Romero is going to miss the Brighton game.

Tottenham Hotspur head to the Amex Stadium on Thursday night and the central defender has been ruled out with a hamstring injury. His manager has revealed that the Aregentine’s injury is going to keep him on the sidelines for around a month.

Ange told the press: “Not so great with Romero. He had a scan and he’s got a hamstring strain. We’re looking at four to five weeks with him.”

Cristian Romero has played 1172 minutes of Premier League football this season and his injury has come at the worst possible time for the Spurs manager. Micky van de Ven is already out with a hamstring injury and now with Romero picking up a knock, Ange will have to use a full-back in the central defensive role on Thursday.

Thankfully, Destiny Udogie is going to return from suspension which will allow Emerson Royal to move into central defence alongside Ben Davies.

The Spurs manager also has Eric Dier in his squad and the England international has previously played at centre-back so he’s also an option.

Cristian Romero becomes the ninth Tottenham player to pick up an injury while Bissouma is going to miss the Brighton game due to a suspension. Ryan Sessegnon should be back in action sometime next week while Richarlison will be assessed before Thursday’s encounter and the Brazilian should be available for selection.

Apart from these two players, all the other injuries are long-term with the likes of James Maddison and Bentancur out of action until the end of January.

Tottenham made a superb start to their Premier League campaign going without a defeat until the start of November but since then they have seen a massive dip in form. Since the 1-4 loss to Chelsea, they have dropped points in seven league games and are currently sitting fourth on the table.

The Amex Stadium is never a comfortable place to visit, especially with so many injuries and with Cristian Romero ruled out, the Spurs backline will have to be on their toes to be able to keep players like Mitoma and Joao Pedro at bay.
