Manchester United have completed the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo by potentially hijacking a deal that was in favour of Manchester City.

The club announced on Tuesday: “Manchester United is delighted to confirm the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo on a two-year contract with the option to extend for a further year, subject to international clearance.”

As soon as the news of Ronaldo wanting to leave Juventus was made public, a lot of clubs had shown interest in signing the Portuguese. But to everyone’s surprise, it was Manchester City who were the favourites to land him.

But, then thanks to the intervention of Man United legends like Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra and notably Sir Alex Ferguson, Cristiano Ronaldo ended up changing his mind and re-joining United.

This is easily the marquee transfer of the summer and this news has shaken up the football world. Now an audio clip has been leaked where CR7 is heard talking about his choices after leaving Juventus.

In this conversation, the Portuguese midfielder is trying to negotiate a deal for Bruno Alves and he is also talking about his own transfer.

In the leaked audio, he said, as reported by Sport Bible: “Palhinhas what’s up? My situation will be done today this afternoon, tonight, or tomorrow morning at the latest.

“Either Manchester United or Manchester City, both are fighting to sign me and it’s going to be closed.”

After Man United officially announced the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo, there were some reports which had claimed that CR7 was actually never close to signing for Man City and that City did not put in a formal bid for him.

But if this leaked audio is legitimate then the City owners clearly wanted the Portuguese midfielder to join them after having missed out on Harry Kane and Lionel Messi.
