David Luiz surprisingly chose to leave Chelsea in the summer and join their London rivals Arsenal. But in the first half of the season, the centre-back was really poor and made a series of silly errors which cost his new sides a handful of points.

But according to Paul Ince, the defender is a changed man under his new manager and it seems like the senior pro has gotten his confidence back.

He said, as quoted by Mirror: “You look at David Luiz, he was terrible under Unai Emery.

“You look at him now and all of a sudden leadership he’s pulling people in saying well done, well done.

“He wasn’t doing that before, he looks like an impostor now.

“But this is what Arteta demands from him, if you are going to be in that central role you are going to have to show leadership.

“That’s what he’s doing. It’s not just the work they are doing on the pitch it’s what goes on off it too. When it all comes together you will see a proper Arsenal team.”

David Luiz has certainly seen a spike in his performance graph after Arteta has arrived at the Emirates but it’s more than certain that the new boss does not see the Brazilian in his long-term plans at the club.

So right now, Arteta will be looking to get the best out of David Luiz until the end of the season and possibly find a new centre-back pairing once the summer transfer window opens up.
