The El Clasico is coming to India

The biggest derby in the world, The El Clasico, is coming to India.

Real Madrid and Barcelona legends are set to play a match against each other in Kolkata. The match is scheduled to be held in the third week of September. But the exact date will be confirmed only on June 11th.

The match will be in the memory of Johan Cruyff who was a legend at the Catalan club. According to reports, both the clubs are eager to play the match in front of the Kolkata crowd.

But if the match does take place in Kolkata then the Salt Lake Stadium will not be available as the preferred venue. As it is set to host the U-17 FIFA World Cup in October. This would mean that the Rabindra Sarovar Stadium will get to host the high-profile encounter.

The Rabindra Sarovar Stadium has currently been revamped and this season it has hosted a series of I-League matches. Last season it was the home ground for Atletico de Kolkata in the ISL.

The retired legends of both the clubs have played a series of such promotional matches and the last one was played in the month of April in Lebanon.

The city of Kolkata has played host to a lot of footballing superstars in the past and the El Clasico will certainly be another feather in its cap.
