A couple of months back, Rangers were being heavily linked with a move for Middlesbrough midfielder Stewart Downing.

Stewart Downing joined Middlesbrough from West Ham United in 2015 and since then he has been a great servant for the club.

But now that his contract has come to an end, Middlesbrough have no interest in keeping him onboard which means that he is ready to move out as a free agent.

And for some time, it was being believed that Gerrard wants bring his former Liverpool teammate to Rangers this summer.

That rumoured though eventually died down until last week when Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie claimed that Rangers still hold an interest in the former Middlesbrough man – along with a host of other clubs.

Downie wrote on Twitter: “Rangers, Sheffield Wednesday & Blackburn are all showing an interest in Stewart Downing.

“The former England international is a free agent after leaving Middlesbrough.”

But now Four Lads Had a Dream have made it clear that Rangers do not have any interest in Stewart Downing and they will not be making a move for him this summer.

Four Lads Had a Dream wrote: “Rangers are saying links to Downing, Brophy & Naismith are rubbish fwiw. As in 5 mins ago.

“Talks ongoing with Oldham is only thing that is true in media today & no agreement yet

“Take from that what you want folks, but should save everyone asking me as I have no info on it.”

Four Lads are a really credible source when it comes to news on Rangers FC which is enough to lay this rumour of the former Middlesbrough man coming to Ibrox during the summer transfer window.
