Premier League leaders Liverpool have shown an interest in signing young Bukayo Saka from Arsenal during the upcoming transfer window.

Saka is a product of the Gunners academy but he was fast-tracked into the first-team squad this season and so far he has managed to win the trust of both his managers – first Unai Emery and now Mikel Arteta.

Primarily he’s a winger but due to the injuries to Kieran Tierney and Sead Kolasinac, the 18-year-old has played most of the season as a left-back and has excelled in that role.

During the 2019-20 season, Bukayo Saka has played in 30 games for Arsenal across all competitions scoring three and providing nine assists. And now Jurgen Klopp is keen to add him to his Liverpool squad next season.

This news was a huge setback for the Gunners since the Anfield outfit have made their approach at such a time when the North London side have been busy trying to make the youngster sign a new deal at the club.

Are Liverpool likely to miss out on Bukayo Saka?

Now as per a report in the Goal, the Gunners are not too anxious about losing the youngster since the management is pretty confident he will agree to the terms of the new deal at the club.

Goal claim: “The one big worry is his contract. His current deal expires in the summer of 2021 and talks have yet to lead to an extension.

“Arsenal remain calm about the situation, though, as they believe Saka will soon put pen to paper. If that happens, then Arteta will be able to count on a player who has all the attributes to become a fixture in the first team for years to come.”

Right now, Bukayo Saka earns £3,000-a-week at Arsenal but if he was to sign the new deal then he’s set to receive a major bump in his wages(£35,000-a-week). So clearly, the youngster will not want to leave London in a hurry, more so when at Liverpool he will have to challenge Andy Robertson for the left-back role and Sadio Mane for the left-winger’s role.

And in both these cases, the Arsenal youngster will not come out on top. Not at least in the next few seasons.
