Chelsea suffered their first defeat of the season last weekend at the hands of Spurs in the Premier League but they still remain of the forces to be reckoned with.

And now that the Blues are fairly sure that they will be qualifying for the Champions League next season, Maurizio Sarri is trying to clear all the deadwood from his side.

Cesc Fabregas is expected to leave the club by the end of the season and now reports are suggesting that Sarri has told defender Gary Cahill to vacate his locker room.

Cahill has fallen down the pecking order ever since Maurizio Sarri took charge of the club and now the 32-year-old is probably spending his final few months at the club.

Antonio Rudiger and David Luiz are the first choice centre-backs for Chelsea season meaning Gary Cahill has to be content with playing in second fiddle games.

Gary Cahill so far has played just six games in all competitions this season with only one of them coming in the Premier League.

It is still unclear when Chelsea are looking to offload the centre-back but with his contract expiring next summer the Blues will need to find a buyer in January itself if they do not wish to let him leave for free at the end of the season.

Reports suggest that Aston Villa are currently interested in signing Gary Cahill while Calciomercato believe AC Milan want the services of the England international by the end of January.
