As per Cadena SER, Real Madrid are still trying to work out a deal for Alphonso Davies and once he arrives at the club, Perez is going to listen to offers for Ferland Mendy.

Fran Garcia and Mendy are the two left-backs in the Madrid squad but once Davies arrives, one of the current two will be sold and since several major clubs are interested in signing Mendy, he will probably be the one who’s going to be offloaded.

Real Madrid had paid €48 million to sign Ferland Mendy from Lyon but his contract is going to expire in 2025 and it’s highly unlikely that the Los Blancos are going to offer him a new deal this year. Teams like Arsenal, Man United and Liverpool have all shown an interest in signing the left-back and if Davies arrives then Mendy’s next destination could be the Premier League.

Will Real Madrid offload Ferland Mendy this summer?

Ferland Mendy is valued at only €22 million and while Real Madrid will not be able to make a major profit by selling him there’s no way Carlo Ancelotti will want three left-backs in his squad next season.

Alphonso Davies is target number one for Florentino Perez but the club is also said to be keeping tabs on Milan’s Theo Hernandez so it’s almost certain that a new left-back is going to arrive at the Bernabeu in the next couple of months.

Real Madrid are also trying to comply with the Financial Fair Play rules and getting Ferland Mendy off their books before the upcoming season will be a huge boost in that department. The club has not yet named a price but we believe an offer in the region of €40-45 million will be more than enough to trigger a sale.

Which club will the left-back join if he leaves Real Madrid?

Arsenal, Liverpool and Man United are the three clubs who have featured prominently in the news and amongst them, Man United and Arsenal are the likeliest to land Mendy.

Liverpool already have Andy Robertson in their squad and after playing 170 games for the Spanish giants we don’t think Mendy will be too eager to go at Anfield and fight for a regular playing spot under Arne Slot.

Arsenal will let go of Kieran Tierney and Mikel Arteta has also lost a bit of faith in Zinchenko so the left-back position at the Emirates Stadium is very much up for grabs next campaign. Tomiyasu was the preferred left-back for Arsenal during the final quarter of the season but the Japanese is primarily a right-back which is a clear indication that the Arsenal manager will be searching for an upgrade for the left-hand side of defence.

Ferland Mendy could also choose a move to Manchester United as well because both Luke Shaw and Tyrel Malacia have hardly played this season. Shaw’s future is in major doubt at the moment and if Erik ten Hag does get the money to sign a new left-back option then Mendy will certainly be a very sensible choice.

The Madrid man might not be the ideal age to fit into a team’s long-term plans but at around €40 million, he will definitely be worth a gamble for two or maybe three seasons.
