Liverpool want Rodrygo in the Premier League
Anfield Liverpool

Premier League sides Arsenal and Liverpool have been heavily linked with Real Madrid striker Rodrygo but they will shell out some major money if they are serious about landing him this summer.

According to Nacional, Real Madrid will only listen to offers in excess of €100 million and as per Sport, that number is €150 million. The reports are suggesting that Madrid are in no hurry to offload the striker but if an interested club is willing to meet their demands then they will let him leave.

Kylian Mbappe and Endrick’s arrival will probably see Rodrygo fall down the pecking order next season and Madrid think it’s wise to put him in the market and generate a hefty profit instead of keeping him on the books for one whole campaign.

In a recent interview, Rodrygo claimed that he does not know what the future holds for him and allowed many people to read between the lines which is why the striker had to immediately come out and clear the air.

Rodrygo has said: “This week some media said about bids, clubs, interest. I don’t know anything about it and I’m not interested.

“Even if there are proposals, I have no idea about that. I’m staying. I’m happy here. How can I leave Real Madrid?!”

Will one of Liverpool or Arsenal be ready to spend €150m on Rodrygo?

Arsenal are actively searching for a new striker and there’s no doubt that Rodrygo will be the perfect replacement for Gabriel Jesus. However, there’s no way the Gunners will be ready to spend €150 million on a single player.

They did break the bank for Declan Rice last summer but we do not expect them to do the same thing two years in a row. Even €100-odd million is a tough ask which means spending €150 million on Rodrygo is a distant dream.

Arsenal are looking at other players like Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko and it’s now quite evident that Mikel Arteta will drop his interest in the Madrid striker and pursue one of these targets.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have already seen a bid of €100 million rejected for Rodrygo according to OK Diario and while some experts think they will go back for the 23-year-old, if Real Madrid are holding out for €150 million then even Liverpool will back off and look for alternatives.

The only way Liverpool will be able to match Real Madrid’s ask is if they can get a good value for Nunez but that’s not going to happen because Barcelona are amidst a major financial crisis.

Rodrygo has scored 54 goals and made 41 assists in 216 appearances for Madrid and his current market value is €110 million so Perez’s demands are not totally unfair. Having said that, neither Liverpool nor Arsenal have the financial strength this summer to pay such a premium price for a single player.
