Jack Grealish to Man City

Manchester City are looking to cash in on winger Jack Grealish after just three years of signing him, according to HITC.

City had signed Jack Grealish from Aston Villa in the summer of 2021 for a fee of €117.5 million, thereby breaking the then British transfer record. However, City feel they have taken the wrong gamble because the England international has not developed into the player they had hoped he would be.

With several of his first-team players ageing, Pep Guardiola is now focused on rebuilding his squad and in a bid to raise money, the MCFC manager is willing to cash in on Jack Grealish.

Grealish signed a six-year deal with City meaning he is contracted until 2027 and over the years, his market value has dipped. When he joined Man City, his valuation stood at €100 million but currently, the England international is valued at only €65 million.

His performances over the years have also not been noteworthy because, in 116 appearances, he’s scored 14 and assisted only 17 goals. This season has been particularly tough for him because he’s managed only five goal contributions in 27 games and it’s very evident that Guardiola prefers Jeremy Doku on the left flank.

Doku is still an unfinished product but the Belgian is only 21 years old so he has lots of time to improve.

At Villa, Jack Grealish was the star of the show but since moving to Manchester City, the 28-year-old has not had the same impact.

De Bruyne and Silva could leave in the summer plus Pep also has to bring in a new defensive midfielder which means Man City will need a lot of money to sign proper reinforcements.

Jack Grealish might not fit into Guardiola’s plans but he’s still a top-class player who can easily fetch around €70-75 million in the market.

According to The Athletic, Villa had offered Grealish to Real Madrid and Man United right before he joined Man City but we doubt if either of them will be interested any more. However, Florentino Perez is said to be interested in signing Garnacho from United and if the Argentine was to join Real then Ten Hag could look at Jack Grealish as an alternative.

Arsenal can be another probable destination for the winger because last year the Gunners were linked with Grealish when rumours had spread that he was unhappy at City.

Jeremy Doku seems to be the future first-choice left-winger for Man City and if Jack Grealish cannot pull up his socks in the next couple of weeks then it’s very likely that he will be put up for sale in the summer.
