Liverpool picked up a commanding win over Sheffield United on Thursday night and those three points have put them at the top of the Premier League table. Now, the Reds head to Old Trafford on Sunday to take on a very disjointed Manchester United.

Liverpool have a two-point lead at the top of the table so they cannot afford any slipups – no matter who the opponent is. The Anfield outfit were recently knocked out of the FA Cup by Man United a few weeks ago but on the road, Liverpool have been in fine form winning 6 out of the previous 7 EPL away games.

The last time these two sides met in the league was back in December and that game ended in a stalemate but it’s very hard to see Liverpool leaving OT with anything other than three points. Man United will have to play out of their skins if they wish to beat Jurgen Klopp’s team but the away side are in buoyant form while the Red Devils are in complete disarray.

Every game is a kind of final for Liverpool because if they drop points on Sunday and Arsenal will their respective league game at the weekend then Mikel Arteta’s side will regain the top spot, courtesy of goal difference.

Liverpool’s team news and injuries:

Alisson, Diogo Jota and Trent Alexander-Arnold are still a few weeks away from making a comeback while Stefan Bajcetic and Thiago Alcantara are also ruled out.

Andy Robertson came off the bench against Sheffield but the Scottish full-back will hopefully get to start on Sunday. If Robertson is back then Joe Gomez moves to the bench however, Conor Bradley will hold onto his place.

Bradley scored an own goal on Thursday night but otherwise, the 20-year-old has done very well at right-back.

Midfielder Wataru Endo missed the midweek win but hopefully, he will be fit in time to feature against Manchester United. Ryan Gravenberch was underwhelming against Sheffield so if Endo is available then he will return to the starting XI alongside Dominik Szoboszlai and Mac Allister.

Cody Gakpo came off the bench to score in midweek but he is not going to get a starting role because the Liverpool manager will rely on the trio of Salah, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz.

Liverpool have a few injuries but most of them have been out for some time so Jurgen Klopp has learnt how to deal with their absence.

Liverpool predicted line up vs Manchester United:

Predicted Starting lineup(4-3-3): Kelleher; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Endo, Mac Allister; Salah, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz.
