Liverpool are second in the Premier League table – just two points behind leaders Manchester City and this matchweek, they have a high-profile clash against an in-form Tottenham side.

Last season, the Reds would have been overwhelming favourites to win this fixture but under their new manager, Tottenham have become a totally different beast. Spurs held Arsenal to a 2-2 draw on Sunday and Liverpool will have to be careful and tactical if they want to pick up all three points.

Liverpool have a superb record against the North London side as they haven’t lost to Tottenham in their last 12 meetings but this one will be a much more closely fought contest. The top five teams are really close in terms of points so if the Anfield outfit fail to pick up three points, they could very easily fall out of the top four by the end of this matchweek.

Liverpool’s team news and injuries:

Unlike Spurs, Liverpool have a very short small injury list with only Stefan Bajcetic and Thiago Alcantara out with injuries. Bajcetic is recovering from a calf issue while Thiago is out with a hip injury and neither of them will be available this weekend.

On the positive front, Trent Alexander-Arnold has returned to training and as per the manager, he will go through a late fitness test before the trip to London.

Klopp told the press on Friday: “Trent trained yesterday normal and will train today normal, and then we have to make a decision.

“He will be in the squad, I’m not a doctor so cannot make that decision, but it looks like he can be in the squad tomorrow and play.”

Trent’s return is a major boost for Liverpool but we don’t think he will be fit enough to get a start, in which case Joe Gomez will play on the right-hand side.

The likes of Van Dijk, Matip and Andy Robertson were all rested during Liverpool’s Carabao Cup win in midweek so they will come back into the starting line up.

Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo started in the Leicester City win and they will move back to the bench allowing Luis Diaz and Nunez to come into the side.

Liverpool predicted line up vs Tottenham:
