Arsenal picked a fighting point vs Spurs in the North London Derby right before the international break and next up they take on Watford at Vicarage Road.

But it looks like midfielder Lucas Torreira might not be part of the matchday squad as he seems to have picked up an injury.

The 23-year-old was set to play for Uruguay against the United States during the international break but eventually, he missed the tie due to a ‘muscular discomfort’ – as per reports.

And now as he is returning back to London to join the rest of the Arsenal squad there are fears the midfielder’s injury might be serious and he will not be able to feature vs the Hornets this Sunday.

Right now there are no confirmed reports on the extent of the injury but initial reports are not too positive.

Lucas Torreira has mostly come off the bench for Arsenal in the three games that he has played but he was set to feature vs Watford after Xhaka’s poor show in the derby.

If the Uruguayan cannot make himself fit then once again it will be the pairing of Xhaka and Gunedouzi who will feature in central midfield.

And if Lucas Torreira is indeed ruled out then the Arsenal manager will have a really reduced bench strength going into Sunday’s match and this could be a major problem in case things start going south for the Gunners.

Joe Willock is also out with a calf injury so if the manager wants to change anything during the course of the match then he might ask Dani Ceballos to play in a more deeper role and let Mesut Ozil act as the link between midfield and the front three.

UPDATE ON LUCAS TORREIRA

While Uruguay clearly said Lucas Torreira pulled out of the USA clash due to a muscle discomfort but Arsenal have released a statement saying that there have been no injuries to their players who were away on international duty.

“All players who were on international duty will have returned to us by Thursday morning,” the club said(as quoted by Sky Sports).

“No international players have reported injuries during this period. However, all international players will be assessed ahead of Sunday’s match.”

If this holds true then Lucas Torreira will surely feature for the Gunners at Vicarage Road on Sunday.
