Man City lifted the Club World by beating Fluminense but they will have to quickly get their focus back to the domestic circuit in midweek.

City head to Goodison Park to take on Everton in the Premier League and the Cityzens will have to ensure they pick up a win or else they won’t be able to get back into the top four.

The Toffees suffered a 2-1 loss at Tottenham in their previous league outing but they have been able to bounce back very well from their 10-point deduction so Man City will be in for a tough fight on Wednesday night.

Manchester City are obviously the favourites to win at Goodison but Guardiola’s men have already dropped points in seven league matches so far which is very unlikely of them. The defending champions have a game in hand because of their recent Club World Cup endeavours and they will have to make sure they don’t fumble in those 90 minutes.

Manchester City’s team news and injury updates:

Kevin De Bruyne is back on the training grounds but the Everton game will come too early for him.

Rodri sustained a knee injury in the Club World Cup final win but thankfully, the knock is not serious and he is going to be fit to play in midweek.

The midfielder said after the win: ‘I almost cried after the tackle but I’m fine. I will be fine to play against Everton, no issues.’

The fact that Rodri hasn’t suffered a major setback is a big boost for the Man City manager because whenever the CDM has missed a match, City have struggled.

Jeremy Doku and Erling Haaland are both doubts for the trip to Merseyside and as per the latest updates, neither of them will be available for selection.

Doku’s absence means Jack Grealish will keep his place out on the left wing while Alvarez is going to lead. Selecting a strong starting XI will not be an issue for the Man City boss but the players who played against Fluminense will not get much rest.

Man City predicted line up vs Everton:

Predicted starting XI(4-2-3-1): Ederson; Ruben Dias, Walker, Stones, Gvardiol; Rodri, Kovacic; Grealish, Silva, Foden; Alvarez.
