What if Jose Mourinho’s every transfer wish this season came true? What if Ed Woodward manages to buy every player that Mourinho pointed to?

What will United look like next season?

We take a look at United’s potential line-up next season:

Goalkeeper:

David De Gea:

As soon as the Premier League season came to an end, it was almost inevitable that David De Gea would leave for Real Madrid. But as the transfer season has moved along the news has subdued a bit. It was reported that Madrid did make an initial bid for De Gea. But it was swiftly rejected by United as it fell short of the asking price. So as things stand now, De Gea is staying at Manchester United.

Defence:

Antonio Valencia (Right Back):

The Ecuadorian shows absolutely no signs of slowing the down. Valencia joined United back in 2009 primarily as a right winger. But as time has gone by, he has reinvented himself and currently plays as a right-back. And as of now, the 31-year-old has no contender to his place in the starting eleven.

Luke Shaw (Left Back):

In the previous season, Mourinho said publicly that he was unhappy with the efforts of Luke Shaw. And everyone thought that the English International would be shown the door as soon as the season came to an end. But that has not been the case. He has stuck on and fought for his place. And it looks as if his commitment has pleased Mourinho who is likely to include the 21-year-old in the club’s pre-season tour to America.

Eric Bailly (Centre-back):

Bailly signed for Manchester United last summer from Villareal. And since arriving, he has more or less secured his name on the team sheet. The Ivorian had a wonderful first season at United. And if his performances are anything to go by, then he will undoubtedly have a big role to play in the upcoming season.

Victor Lindelof (Centre-back):

The 22-year-old as of now is the only signing that United have made this summer. The Swedish international arrived from Benfica at the back of a €35 million move. The player comes with a big reputation and is tipped to be the next Nemanja Vidic.

Midfield:

Ander Herrera (Defensive Midfielder):

Herrera has become a fan favourite at the club ever since his arrival from Bilbao. And the player is expected to play a huge role under Mourinho next season. And some of the fans are even rooting for the Spaniard to become the next club captain.

Nemanja Matic (Defensive Midfielder):

Another signing that Mourinho is expected to make in the upcoming weeks. United’s manager has already worked with Matic at Chelsea. So the Portuguese knows very well what Matic is capable of. Signing up Matic will mean that Man Utd will have an extra defensive shield for their back line.

Paul Pogba (Central Midfielder):

United’s world record signing from Juventus did not have the best possible season last year. But this time around the Frenchman will definitely try and make things right. With a lot of reinforcements coming United’s way, Mourinho will hopefully play Pogba further up the pitch.

Forward:

Henrikh Mkhitaryan (Attacking Forward):

The Armenian did not have the best of starts to his United career. But as the season progressed on Mkhitaryan featured more or less regularly in Mourinho’s first team plans. The 28-year-old will have to play a huge part if United wish to become serious title contenders.

Marcus Rashford (Attacking Forward):

Marcus Rashford has been a revelation in these past two seasons. From a virtually unknown academy kid to an integral part of United’s attacking endevours, Rashford’s rise to the top has been nothing short of a fairy tale. The Englishman is naturally gifted with some great energy and an amazing burst of speed. And in the next season, Moruinho will be looking to utilize these talents to a much greater use.

Romelu Lukaku (Striker):

The Belgian International is expected to sign for Manchester United within the next week. And if this deal comes through, it will definitely be United’s best business of the summer.
