Man United breezed past Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup in midweek and these two will meet once again at the weekend, this time in the Premier League.

The 3-0 win over the Eagles on Tuesday night was a big confidence booster for Manchester United and they will now look to keep this momentum going on Saturday. Palace are just one point behind United on the table but a win for the Old Trafford outfit could see them move into the top six.

Man United have won their last four home matches against Crystal Palace in all competitions and they are very much the favourites to win on Saturday as well. It’s true Palace will put up a much sterner test than they did in midweek but we doubt if they can dent a blow, more so cause United have been superb at home.

Manchester United have entered a busy run of matches because after this weekend’s match, they will welcome Galatasaray in their second UCL game of the season and Erik ten Hag will have one eye on that match as well.

Manchester United’s team news and injuries:

Luke Shaw and Kobie Mainoo are ruled out for a long time while Jadon Sancho and Antony are not part of the squad due to disciplinary reasons.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka recently joined the injury list, sustaining a hamstring injury while Reguilon missed the Carabao Cup win due to an illness. Even though he has gotten this whole week to return to full fitness there are still doubts over his availability.

If Reguilon misses out then Sofyan Amrabat will once again have to play out of position, slotting into the left-back role instead of playing in central midfield.

Lisandro Martinez is another high-profile name who is going to miss out with a foot injury which means Victor Lindelof and Varane will pair up in central defence.

Christian Eriksen was also down with illness but the midfielder has returned to training which is a big boost for the Man United manager. Eriksen and Casemiro have been playing as the two central midfielders so far this season but now that Mason Mount has returned, the England international will keep Eriksen on the bench.

However, if Reguilon returns then Ten Hag will obviously be tempted to use the dream pairing of Amrabat and Casemiro in the middle of the pitch.

With Antony out of the bench, Garnacho could hold onto his place but if the Argentine is handed a start then he will have to play on the right wing.

Anthony Martial got his first goal of the season in midweek but on Saturday, he will move back to the bench making way for Hojlund.

UPDATE:

Antony will return to training as confirmed by Man United but the winger is not likely to be ready for the Eagles game.

In the defensive department, United have suffered a dual blow as Lisandro Martinez has aggravated his foot injury and is expected to be out for around eight weeks while Sergio Reguilon will not be available for selection on Saturday as the left-back recovers from his minor injury.

Christian Eriksen and McTominay are both fully fit and available for selection but Reguilon’s continued absence means Amrabat will once again have to play out of position.

“We have seen some players back on Tuesday, and tomorrow, back are the players who were out of the squad for Tuesday: Scott McTominay, Christian Eriksen. They are back,” Ten Hag has told the press.
