Man United travel to London on Monday in order to take on Chelsea in the Premier League and the fate of a number of sides lay on the outcome of this match.

Right now, Manchester United are eight on the league table – six points behind fourth-placed Chelsea and if Solskjaer’s men can manage to accumulate all three points on Monday then not only will they be able to close the gap to the top-four but teams like Spurs and Sheffield United will also have the chance to leapfrog over the Blues.

These two sides have already met twice this season and Man United have come out triumphant in both these encounters. But going into this match, the OT outfit have managed to pick up just two wins out of their last five league matches meaning there’s a complete lack of self-confidence in Ole’s men right now. And this could very well lead to their downfall.

Man United team news vs Chelsea:

Lindelof and Harry Maguire have been a solid pair in central defence this season for United and they will surely take centre-stage on Monday while Aaron Wan-Bissaka starts in the right-back role.

The left-back scenario might be a bit of a complex circumstance for Solskjaer since he will be confused between Brandon Williams and Luke Shaw. But given that Williams has played so strongly this season, there’s every possibility that the youngster starts at left-back on Monday.

Scott McTominay has returned back to full training for Man United during the break which is a great lift for the Red Devils but as per the latest updates, the midfielder might not be a 100 per cent meaning he could at best find a place on the bench.

So with McTominay and Paul Pogba, both ruled out it will once again be Nemanja Matic who will play in central midfield alongside Fred.

Bruno Fernandes made a solid debut for Man United against Wolves before the winter break and the Portuguese will start in the attacking midfielder’s role against Chelsea as well.

Marcus Rashford remains sidelined but United now have managed to sign Odion Ighalo from China meaning Anthony Martial could very well be playing on the left flank as a winger and not upfront as the main man.

Ighalo has remained away from the Man United training grounds due to fears of the Coronavirus outbreak but that time frame gets over this weekend meaning the Nigerian will be eligible to play against Chelsea on Monday.

If the January signing is selected in the starting line-up then Daniel James could move back to the right-wing while Martial plays on the other flank. But this would also mean that young Mason Greenwood once again starts on the bench.
