Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is without a doubt one nervy manager right now after the loss the Liverpool in the Premier League which comes right after Marcus Rashford has been ruled out of action for atleast six weeks due to a stress fracture.

The forward picked up the injury during United’s win over Wolves in the FA Cup and it immediately ruled him out of action for the Liverpool game.

And with Rashford out of action, Man United are looking really slim in the attacking department since the England international’s immediate backup right now is young Mason Greenwood.

While the academy graduate has done really well as a super-sub but surely the forward will find it tough to put on the empty boots of Rashford which is why the Norwegian manager has hinted that he might be trying to bring in a couple of short-term signing this month.

Solskjaer admitted: “It’s a stress fracture that happened against Wolverhampton and it’s not something that’s happened before. It was so unlucky for Marcus, he’ll be out for a while.

”He won’t be back until after the mid-season break. I don’t know long it is, I’m not a doctor but normally a stress fracture is six weeks to heal and then he needs some recovery or some rehab after that probably.

“We’ve had many, many injuries to big players this season. Marcus now, Anthony’s been out for months, Paul’s been out for more than half the season and Scott’s been out for months.

“It’s just an unfortunate situation that we’re in. It might be, because the window is open, we might look at some short-term deals as well that could take us through to the summer.

”We’re looking at numbers as well because we have had many injuries so if the right one’s there and it will fit for us, we can buy. If there are loans available, it might be possible. But I’ve got players here as well that are champing at the bit.“

While the injury to Marcus is certainly a setback but it has come at the right moment since the manager can atleast try and find a replacement this month so that all the goalscoring pressure does not fall on the shoulders of Anthony Martial and Daniel James.
