It looks like Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera is going to sign a new contract with the club by December of this year.

The Spaniard has entered the final 12 months of his contract and his current deal has the option of extension by another year. But Manchester United are set to reward the player for his services with a new and improved deal at the club. According to the latest reports, both the parties are in no such hurry as it is quite sure that Herrera will pen to paper on the new deal.

The 28-year-old joined Manchester United back in 2014 from Athletic Bilbao and since then the player has established himself as one of the fan favourites. Even Jose Mourinho showered praises on the player after his team’s 4-0 win over Everton during the weekend.

Speaking after the match Mourinho said, “I think Ander was important,

“He gave us the stability that we were losing a little bit and then was only possible, in my view, 1-0 or 2-0, I never thought in the last 15 or 20 minutes it could be 1-1.”

The Spaniard has just entered his 4th season at the club and in these four seasons, he has played 126 matches for the Red Devils managing to score 15 goals. But ever since the arrival of Nemanja Matic this summer, Herrera has been warming the benches and has started only one match so far. As of now, Mourinho clearly prefers Matic as the midfield partner to Paul Pogba but Manchester United clearly understand the importance that Ander Herrera. And that is why he is being rewarded with a new deal at the club.
