Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is currently on a spending spree and the United boss is planning to add atleast three defenders to his squad during the summer transfer window.

United recently signed Diogo Dalot from Porto for a transfer price of £19 million and the Old Trafford outfit have now set their sights on bringing Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Toby Alderweireld to the club.

But that deal is not going as planned after the Lilywhites rejected Man United first offer of £55 million.

Reports suggest that Spurs want nothing less than £75 million and this made Manchester United have second thoughts.

Spending £75 million on a 29-year-old defender will surely burn a big hole on Jose Mourinho’s transfer kitty and according to Manchester Evening News, the United manager is weighing in his other options.

MEN suggests that Jose Mourinho is going after Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet.

Lenglet’s current contract has a buy out clause of £31 million which is much less than what Spurs are demanding for Alderweireld.

Clement Lenglet first caught the eye of Jose Mourinho during United’s Champions League clash against Sevilla and the Portuguese manager has been keeping track of him ever since.

United have already made contact with Sevilla about Clement and we feel that the Red Devils have received a positive signal which is why they have told Spurs that they won’t be afraid of backing out of the Alderweireld deal is the Lilywhites don’t lower their asking price.

Clement moved to Sevilla in January 2017 from Nacy for a transfer fee of €5 million and in his first full season in Spain, the centre-back managed to make 48 appearances for Sevilla in all competitions.
