West Ham United attacking midfielder Manuel Lanzini injured himself right before the 2018 World Cup in Russia. And since then the player has endured a tough time on the sidelines.

The 26-year-old picked up a ligament injury while on national duty with Argentina which meant that he was not able to play for West Ham United.

Initially, it was thought that Manuel Lanzini would miss the whole of the 2018-19 campaign but the attacking midfielder has made a good recovery and a couple of weeks ago he made a comeback for the Hammers.

After returning to the matchday squad, Manuel Lanzini has played in five Premier League games and the 26-year-old was scheduled to play a key role for Pellegrini until the end of the season.

This early return from injury also earned the South American a national team call up during the international break and he was also expected to start vs Venezuela.

But to everyone’s surprise, not only was Manuel Lanzini missing from the first XI of that game but he was also not named in the matchday squad.

And immediately doubts started creeping in that the midfielder might have injured himself again.

These rumours were further fueled when Argentina chose to give an injury update after the 3-1 loss to Venezuela but oddly enough there was no mention of Manuel Lanzini.

Argentina’s squad update read(as reported): “Meanwhile, the rest of the squad, did various soccer exercises, all in a small space.

“Within the activity, pressure, recovery and permanent movement of the lines were highlighted to generate superiority in the rival.

“Gonzalo Martínez, with a muscular ailment, worked together with the physiotherapists on the campus.”

Some reports claim that Argentina did not mention Manuel Lanzini on their updates was because the attacking midfielder is absolutely fit.

Other though are not buying into this argument as they claim that Manuel Lanzini has injured himself and the national team’s medical staff are yet to fully access the injury as the result of which they have chosen to keep everything under wraps.
