Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has suffered a stress fracture during the FA Cup replay vs Wolves and now his manager has admitted that the forward will be out of action for atleast six weeks.

“He got a couple of knocks and jolts when he came on against Wolves and aggravated his back,” Ole told MUTV and Sky Sports via the club’s official website.

“It’s a stress fracture and it’s not something that’s happened before. It’s so unlucky for Marcus, he’ll be out for a while.

“He’s had some trouble before and we’re going to give him time to recover and rest before we put him back on the pitch. He won’t be back until after the mid-season break.

“I don’t know long it is, I’m not a doctor but normally a stress fracture is six weeks to heal and then he needs some recovery or some rehab after that probably.

“He’s always recovered quickly before so let’s hope he does that again. This time it takes longer so we just have to keep monitoring him, do another scan over the weekend and see how he is. We’re going to give him the time he needs.“

This injury has surely been a setback to Solskjaer and his plans for the rest of the season but according to former Man United man Robin Van Persie, the last thing the club should do is to rush him back into the first-team.

“I had a similar injury, a stress fracture in my lower back.” Van Persie said via MEN.

“I was out with that for four months. You can’t really do much, just rest and let it heal.

“But it is a difficult one because it always stays a little bit of a weakspot. Even now, it is not that I’m like in pain or something, but it’s a sensitive area. So you have to be really careful with that.”

VERDICT ON MARCUS RASHFORD INJURY:

Marcus Rashford was having his best top-flight season at Man United so the timing of the injury could not have been worse. But given that he has a full career ahead of him, the player shouldn’t be trying to rush things.

Also, the Man United medical staff will have to do a top class job in order to ensure that the England international is fully fit before stepping back on the pitch or much like Luke Shaw, Rashford might never ever fully recover from this setback.
