Marcus Rashford has been on the verge of becoming the next big thing at Man United for some time now but it looks like with each passing season, the forward’s talents have been diminishing.

This season, the England international has played in 8 Premier League games but has managed to score only 3 goals. And this is a serious concern since United’s other frontman Anthony Martial is out injured.

Man United have managed to score only nine goals so far this season which amounts to just a shade over one goal per game. And this is one of the biggest reasons why they are currently sitting on the 12th spot of the table.

But according to former Man United man Darren Fletcher, Marcus Rashford has an abundance of talent and will shine when Liverpool visit Old Trafford this weekend.

“I think Daniel James has been a breath of fresh air and Scott McTominay has come to the fore and drives the team forward. Probably Marcus Rashford [is the match-winner in the side],” he told Sky Sports.

“I think he is feeling the pressure of that a little bit this season, you want to say to him ‘relax, don’t try too hard’.

“We want him to try, obviously, but it’s a case of not trying too hard – wait for your opportunities.

“I think for Marcus Rashford, like Manchester United, it could be the game that kick-starts the season.

“He’s a real talisman and the goals and performances are in him, all it takes is something to click.”

Marcus Rashford has only been getting game time because Anthony Martial is out injured and unfortunately, the England international has not done enough to keep hold of his place in the first XI when the Frenchman makes a comeback.

The likes of Daniel James and Andreas Periera have done a more than a decent job and there are fears that if Marcus Rashford cannot come up with the goods during the Man United vs Liverpool clash, he might very well move down the pecking order for the upcoming games.
