The new Chelsea manager has had to rely heavily on youngsters this season and Mason Mount has been one of the standouts so far.

Mason Mount spent the last season out on loan at Derby County under the watchful eyes of Frank Lampard so when the Blues legend took charge of Chelsea, it was more or less sure that Mount will see a fair bit of game time.

And just as we enter the second half of the Premier League season, the 20-year-old has so far played in 21 league matches scoring five goals and making three assists.

Right now, Mason Mount is one of the first names on the teamsheet for Frank Lampard and as according to the player, gaining valuable experience is the main focus for him this season.

The academy lad said via the club’s official website: “Hopefully I can keep going as the season has started, by playing minutes and trying to gain as much experience as I can.

“Learning is the most important thing because if you’re learning then you’re getting better and better.

“I’m playing in one of the best leagues in the world and loving my football so hopefully we can keep producing performances like at Tottenham and Arsenal, and we can keep winning games. That’s the focus at the moment.”

Mount is technically an attacking midfielder but this season he has played in a variety of positions including out on the wings.

And it is safe to say that he hasn’t disappointed too much.

Out of the 21 appearances that Mason Mount has made in the league this season, 19 have been starts which clearly shows the Frank Lampard has given his full backing to the youngster and the 20-year-old is certainly repaying the faith.
