Tottenham Hotspur have been able to get their hands on Wolves’ full-back Matt Doherty according to a report by talkSPORT.

The report claims: “Tottenham have reached an agreement to sign Wolves right-back Matt Doherty in a £16m deal, talkSPORT understands.

“Jose Mourinho has been searching for a new right-back this summer, and it appears they have found one in the Republic of Ireland international.”

talkSPORT’s transfer expert Alex Crook further added: “Matt Doherty was a target for Arsenal but it looks like he’s going to join the other team in north London…

“Tottenham are closing in on a move for the Wolverhampton Wanderers defender.

“£12million up-front is the fee, rising to £16m with add-ons.”

This is great news for Jose Mourinho since Kyle Walker-Peters has already joined Southampton this summer and Serge Aurier is also expected to move out pretty soon.

AC Milan, Monaco and Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly interested in Aurier and now with the arrival of Matt Doherty from Wolves, the 27-year-old should be allowed to leave.

Doherty joined Wolves in 2010 and after a couple of loan stints, the 28-year-old has been a regular first-team feature at the club since 2013.

During the 2019/20 season, the right-back featured in 36 Premier League matches for Wolves, scoring four and assisting four goals.
